Breana Barrera, Care Coordinator

Breana joined Hospice of Santa Barbara in 2020 as a care coordinator with the patient care services (PCS) team. In this role she provides support to facilitate the highest quality care for patients and families. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Breana left in 2013 to attend the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained a Bachelors in Political Science and Masters of International Development from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). Before beginning at HSB, she worked with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services - Immigrants and Internationals Initiative where her role was to assist in bridging gaps in services provided for the growing immigrant and refugee populations. In 2018 her family experienced a great loss and her focus shifted from making a difference abroad to making a difference at home. She returned to Santa Barbara to be closer to family and help with their family-owned restaurant, Goleta Bakery, and was drawn to HSB after learning about the wonderful services they provide. She is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Brazilian Portuguese and enjoys cooking, hiking and exploring the National Parks with her fiancé whenever possible.
