Amara Maliszewski, ACSW, Social Work Care Manager
In her role, Amara provides initial support and immediate short-term services to community members reaching out to Hospice of Santa Barbara in their time of need. She is drawn to working with families during times of great transition, and finds joy in her work at HSB because it is filled with genuine love and care. She holds a B.A. from State University of New York, New Paltz, and an M.A. in social work from the University of Texas, Austin. After earning her M.A., Amara moved to Santa Barbara and worked as a case manager for pregnant and parenting teenagers. She volunteered with a medical hospice, offering companionship to those at the end of their lives and respite for their family caregivers. She has worked at HSB since 2010, with the exception of taking time off to have her children. Her favorite activities are swimming, going to the beach, and camping.
